When I decided to make breakfast at the moment I was thinking about Ihop. My food was pretty simple to make which is why I was a little more successful on this project. The only challenge was making every pancake the same size. The painting process was pretty simple since there wasn't much to paint and also because there wasn't any complex shapes. I learned that food made out of clay can look appetizing. Seeing my friends projects made me crave different foods. Also I learned that it's hard to make the "melting look" for the butter on my pancake. What helped me do this was adding oil to the paint to make the paint more clear but also more easy to handle. I learned that you can make circular shapes with out having to cut them out in a circle by using a rolling pin. More than anything I keep learning that patience is key because things don't always work out on the first try. My biggest concern was "will it stick together?" since I had actually scored the pancakes together. Unfortunately, my top pancake didn't stick but it turned out to be okay. Something else that was hard was keeping the clay moist enough since it kind of starts cracking after it's thinned out and painted. Thank god nothing broke in the kiln which is why I'm actually a bit proud of this project.
